Blogging

A few things I've learnt while blogging and reading other blogs over the years.

1) No one cares about your failed relationship or loneliness. Stop bitching about it.

2) People are interested and yet not interested in your life. That, meaning you shouldn't delve into the details of what happened but instead give a general picture.

3) NEVER blog about things that happen in your workplace. You could get easily fired or sued.

4) People are generally interested about your views towards life, strange/weird/funny stuff that happened, great places you've been to, delicious food you've eaten. Blogging anything other than that will limit your audience.

5) Writing reviews and lists is great when you have nothing else to write about. =D

The Wrestler/Slumdog Millionaire

Two out of the many movies I've watched over the past couple of weeks.

One word to describe them.

Epic.

The Wrestler is directed by one of my favourite directors, Darren Aronofsky, the guy who enchanted me with his style in 'Requiem for A Dream'. I then started watch his other films ('Pi' and 'The Fountain'). All his films make me depressed... Very very depressed.

In this film, Darren Aronofsky discarded his previous styles of filming and shot 'The Wrestler' with indie-style(The camera angles, color, editing, etc looks like they had been done by independent movie makers). The story focuses about a has-been wrestler(played by an exceptional Mickey Rourke here), who is at the end of his wrestling career. It tells you the story behind the scenes of professional wrestling and about the life of an aging wrestler. Sounds boring? Wait till you watch it. Be prepared to feel depressed.

Slumdog Millionaire. What can I say? The most celebrated film of this year. Golden Globe winner and 10 Oscar nominations. Directed by British Director Danny Bolye and adapted from the novel 'Q&A', this movie revolves around a young man who is on the course to winning 20 million rupees in India's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'. One question away from the Grand Prize, he was suspected for cheating and was taken to the police for interrogation. There, he starts telling the story of his life of how he managed to answer all the questions correctly. Smart editing coupled with flashbacks and flashforwards, this movie showed the best and the worse of Mumbai. A truly magical and wonderful rags to riches story. A story of romance, comedy, drama, and even tragedy.

Final Rating
The Wrestler: 10/10
Slumdog Millionaire: 10/10

Reunion Dinner?

Today is Chinese New Year's Eve. Where all chinese families are supposed to have reunion dinner. I've decided to meet my friend in the afternoon for lunch so that all of us could be back for the reunion dinner. I woke up around 12 this afternoon and told my mum I was going out for lunch with my friend.

She said, "You're going out? You can't go out, what about our lunch?"

"What lunch?" I replied.

"Our reunion lunch," Mum answered without hesitation, "We always have reunion lunch and not reunion dinner."

And I was like "(-____-!!) WTF!?"

How come I never heard of 'Reunion Lunch'

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Parents

The other day when my parents were fetching me back home from Puduraya bus stop, my father mentioned about my neighbour, Mr. Lim.

Then my mum was like"Who's Mr. Lim?"

Dad goes, "The husband of Mrs. Lim."

Mum replied, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Dad laughed at mum and said, "I had to put it this way to make you understand."

And I was like, "(-____-!!) WTF!?"
